It's chocks away for Auster flights out of Eshott Airfield in Morpeth! This high-wing monoplane is something of a hidden gem in the world of vintage aviation and we think you'll love it. Steeped in history the Auster is a brilliant little plane that's fantastic to fly in. Your Auster flight experience will take place at Eshott Airfield the home of 57OTU squadron during WW2 which was tasked with training fighter pilots. Just like the Auster this airfield is also steeped in history and you'll quickly find yourself immersed in the atmosphere of the airfield. You'll start your day in an incredibly rare WW2 Fordson truck where you'll be briefed by your pilot on this beautiful aircraft the route you'd like to take and the weather. One thing's for sure you'll have the chance to see some of the most stunning coastline that the UK has to offer - only this time it will be from your seat in the Army observer aircraft! Once you've talked through everything and have a flight plan you'll be kitted out with a military flying suit before making your way out for your Auster flight. VF516 will be waiting for you on the very same pan Spitfires flew from in the Second World War. Built in 1951 this fully restored Auster aircraft still proudly flies in her silver grey Mk10 Forces training colours reminiscent of her active role in the Forces. You'll climb and settle into your seat ready for the in-aircraft briefing on the controls. After that this delightful aircraft will come into life with the sound of the 1940s as the engine starts. After some checks your pilot will taxi to the runway and before you know it you'll be in the skies above Northumberland in the lovely Auster! Family and friends are welcome to join you for the briefing and will be able to get up close to VF516 on the ground. We're super pleased to be able to offer flights in this delightful Auster from Eshott. With lots to see from the wild coastline to the likes of Warkworth Castle and Alnwick (the seat of the Duke of Northumberland) a flight in this World War Two Auster in this wonderful part of the world is sure to charm you!
