Light Sports Flying Lessons Berkshire

Flying lessons in Berkshire operating out of Membury Airfield. Take to the skies in a modern light sports aircraft for your first taste of flying with a 30 or 60-minute flight or go the whole hog and stay for the day and train like a pilot! These trial lessons are operated using an Ikarus C42 closed-cockpit aeroplane. These latest-generation fixed wing microlights have the equivalent performance of a typical Cessna training aircraft but with much lower running costs. You'd be amazed how far you can fly on just one tank of fuel! Indeed even on a 30-minute flight you can easily cover around 40 miles when cruising at around 70 knots at between 1500 and 2000ft. The Ikarus is certainly an impressive machine and all the instructors here in Berkshire love flying this plane on lessons. It's modern designed and easy to fly yet full of character - right down to the gull wing doors! And this small and welcoming airfield near Hungerford in Berkshire is an amazing place to fly in your light sports aircraft from. As soon as you're airborne it's quite a view. You'll spot where the original WW2 runways were and you'll realise just how close the airfield is to the Membury M4 services. Then there are the fields of solar panels glistening below you in the sunshine. And not forgetting that you're in the North Wessex Downs with the likes of Lambourn Woodlands easily spotted. All flying lesson options at this Berkshire school include a pre-flight briefing and the chance to fly the aircraft yourself. If you're really into your flying we can highly recommend the full day training course. It gives you a really good insight into life at the club with three 45-minute flights spread across the day. And of course time spent in the air will count towards your licence if you carry on with your training.
