The tour will begin with the introduction of your guide, Venutius, chief of the Brigante Tribe. He lived through the horror of the Roman invasion and fought for his land, surviving to tell the tale. Venutitus will tell you the fascinating stories of the invasion from the Celtic perspective whilst you trek across the Northumberland National Park and along Hadrian's Wall, hearing tales of battles, conquerors, and the quality of life at the time. The full day tour will last for approximately 7 hours and you'll trek up to 9 miles across the moorland - so make sure you bring sturdy shoes! Alternatively, you can spend the morning hiking the hills, then visiting two of the surrounding museums and archaeological sites. Pick whatever you fancy! This full day experience is great for history fanatics and anyone wanting to learn a thing or two about the Roman era! Whether you buy this as a gift for a loved one, or decide to go yourself, the day is assured to be one you will not forget.
