This flight training school offers half day experiences so you can clock up some air miles flying from Barton to Sleap and back again in a light aircraft. The idea behind these flights is to give you a full insight into what flying for pleasure is all about. Whether you're toying with the idea of training for your PPL (Private Pilot's Licence) or just fancy an extended aerial experience this half day fly-out from Manchester's City Airport is a great expedition for all aviation fans. Your flying instructor will be keen to get you at the controls of the plane as much as possible. Once all the pre-flight checks have been taken care of and the take off and climb all done it'll be over to you. It's a great feeling taking control for the first time - and could be the start of a career or hobby in aviation if you really get that flying bug after your day out with this Manchester flight school. Part of the syllabus for becoming a pilot is map reading and navigational skills. You'll learn from your expert pilot instructor that you'll be heading to the first big landmark on your journey the Thelwell Viaduct then heading south to Sleap via the likes of Northwich and Ashcroft. This route is actually called the Manchester LLR (Low Level Route). With jargon like that under your belt you'll be starting to sound like a pilot already! Heading to Sleap (pronounced 'slay-pe' rather than 'sleep') you'll land and park up just in time for a hearty lunch at the aerodrome's cafe and clubhouse. A very welcoming place there's always a good cup of tea on the go and menu that includes everything from the 'Flying Start' breakfast to Sunday roasts and light lunches too. After your refuelling stop it's time to get back in the plane and head back to Barton. The usual return route is the same as your outward leg but in reverse. Once again there'll be plenty of time for you to fly as you make your way back to this Manchester flight school. A great little aerial voyage - and don't forget the beauty of a land away is that you get to enjoy two take offs and two landings!
